By entering the Yeovil Literary Prize competition 2017, you agree to abide by the following rules:

• Entries must be the work of the entrant (who must be over 16), in English, (not translated into English) and must NOT have been previously self-published, broadcast, or accepted for publication.
• Entries may have appeared online, but NOT in any commercial online form (e.g. in a journal or magazine, or as part of a publication requiring payment to access.)
• Entries that have won or are under consideration in other writing competitions with a closing date prior to 31st May 2017 are not eligible for the Yeovil Literary Prize.
• Copyright remains with the entrant.
• The entrant’s name must only appear on the entry form and not on the entry itself.
• Only ONE prose entry OR up to THREE poetry entries are allowed per entry form, BUT one payment may be made to cover multiple entries, including payment by BACS/iBAN, cheque for a UK Bank or PayPal.
• A reference number is allocated once an entry is submitted. All correspondence must quote your Entry Reference Number (eg. 17/EC0….C00…./Z…).
• Word counts for entries are:
  

  Short Story category	Maximum of 2,000 words
  Poetry category	Maximum of 40 lines
  Novels category	Maximum of 15,000, including synopsis and opening chapters
  Writing Without Restrictions	This category is wide open. The judges are looking for anything you have written that is good, and is legal; there are no restrictions. The only rules entrants must follow are the General Rules for All Entries, detailed above.

• No corrections will be accepted or refunds given.
• The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
• The closing date for entries is the ۳۱st May 2017.
• Winners will be notified by letter or email and the results published on the competition website (www.yeovilprize.co.uk) on ۱۴th September 2017.

• Entries must be typed and single-sided with numbered pages and accompanied by the completed entry form and fee. Prose entries must be double line spaced and poetry single line spaced.
• A word count must be given at the end of short story entries.
• Novels must NOT be stapled.
• Entries cannot be returned, therefore entrants should retain their own copy.
• To receive an acknowledgement of an entry, entrants should include a SAE marked ‘Acknowledgement’.
• To receive results of the competition, entrants should include an SAE marked ‘Results’.

• Text should be single line spaced. N.B. The formatting changes after entry.
• Where payment of the entry fee is by post, online entries are held provisionally until payment has been received.

A competition for all those forms of writing that literary prizes have never reached before. Language performing gymnastics to reach a whole new audience.
The Writing Without Restrictions category is wide open; we are looking for anything you have written that is inventive, different or just plain fun. As long as it is legal, there are no restrictions.
For example, it could be … a letter; a recipé; a science piece; an advert; a label; an essay; a biography or a Mini-Saga. In short, anything that you have written that has the WOW! factor. The unusual, the creative, the inspired, anything you have written is OK to enter. We are hoping for something different.
YOU WRITE IT – WE WILL READ IT! There are three prizes to be won.
The only competition rules you have to follow are those regarding age, no identification on manuscript, and entry form details as seen above. The judges’ decision will be final.
