توضیحات
- مسابقه توسط شورای هنر مالاکوتا برگزار می شود.
- مسابقه در سه بخش تقسیم بندی شده است
__«جایزه مالاکوتا» نوشته ی داستان کوتاه نباید بیشتر از ۲۵۰۰ کلمه باشد.
__«جایزه گابو» نوشته ی داستان خیلی کوتاه نباید بیشتر از ۷۰۰ کلمه باشد.
__«جایزه بتکا» نوشته های داستان کوتاه طنز آمیز نباید بیشتر از ۱۰۰۰ کلمه باشند. - تمامی نوشته ها باید آثار داستانی باشند.
- هیچ موضوع (زمینه ای) وجود ندارد و داستان ها می توانند در هر ژانری در ادبیات (بزرگسال) و جوان نوشته شوند.
- متن تمامی نوشته ها باید انگلیسی باشد.
- تمامی نوشته ها باید آثار اصلی و ازقبل منتشر نشده باشند.

- $۱۲ برای هر «جایزه مالاکوتا»ی داستان کوتاه ادوین جیمز بردی
- ۱۰$ برای هر «جایزه بتکا» داستان طنز آمیز
- ۸$ برای هر «جایزه گابو» داستان خیلی کوتاه.

- جایزه ی نفر اول برای داستان کوتاه اصلی ادوین جیمز بردی «جایزه مالاکوتا» ۲۰۰۰$ و جایزه نفر ذوم ۳۰۰$ است.
- جایزه ی نفر اول برای داستان خیلی کوتاه ادوین جیمز بردی «جایزه گابو» ۵۰۰$ است.
- جایزه ی نفر اول داستان کوتاه طنزآمیز ادوین جیمز بردی «جایزه بتکا» ۵۰۰$ است.

EJ Brady Short story competition 2016-2017
The 2016 – ۲۰۱۷ competition is now open.
The Mallacoota Arts Council is pleased to provide a prize of $2000 for the winning story in the major short story category, the Mallacoota Prize for stories up to 2500 words with the runner up receiving $300.
The Gabo Prize for stories of less than 700 words, has a first prize of $500.
The Betka Prize for humorous short stories of less than 1000 words, has a first prize of $500.
The judges are also able to make an encouragement award of $100 to an entrant who has not previously been paid for a published story.

Entry fees
Multiple stories can submitted. Entry fees are $12 for each Mallacoota Prize Major Story, $10 for each Betka Prize Humorous Story and $8 for each Gabo Prize story. Payment can be made by a bank transfer or via PayPal or, if you are submitting the entry form by post, payment can be made by cheque.
History
The EJ Brady Short story competition is named in honour of local poet Edwin James Brady (1869-1952). The competition recognises Mallacoota’s long-standing literary and artistic traditions. Mr Brady’s accomplishments were rather varied. The Australian Dictionary of Biography lists his occupations as agricultural writer, auto biographer/memoirist, biographer, journalist, newspaper editor, poet, short story writer and socialist!
Terms & Conditions
- Maximum length for EJ Brady “Mallacoota Prize” short story entries is ۲۵۰۰ words.
”Gabo Prize” very short stories must not exceed ۷۰۰ words.
“Betka Prize” humorous short story must not exceed ۱۰۰۰ words.
The judges reserve the right to reject works exceeding the word limit.
- All entries must be works of fiction. There is no set theme and stories may be written in any genre in adult or young adult literature. Please make sure that entries in the “Betka Prize” are humorous.
- There is no geographical restriction on entry. The EJ Brady Short Story Competition is an international competition open to everyone.
- All entries should be in English.
- The entrant’s name and address must appear on the entry form but not on any of the pages of the manuscript(s).
- Entries can be made online or by post. To enter online, please complete and submit the online entry form at artsmallacoota.org. to enter by post, complete the entry by post form available for downloading from www.artsmallacoota.org and return it to: EJ Brady Short Story Competition PO Box 201 Mallacoota Victoria 3892.
- Postal entries must be submitted typed and double-spaced on A4 white paper in a . 12
- Entry fees are $12 AUD for each EJ Brady “Mallacoota Prize” short story, $8 AUD for each “Gabo Prize” short story, $10 AUD for each “Betka Prize” short story. Full payment MUST be submitted with your entry form by direct deposit to the MAC account. Postal entries may be paid by cheque or postal money order payable to Mallacoota Arts Council and are subject to a $2 AUD processing fee.
- The closing date for entries is Tuesday 28th February 2017.
- All entries must be original and previously unpublished works.
- Any works submitted must not have won prizes, contracts or cash in any other competition.
- The winner of the “Mallacoota Prize” short story category will receive $2000 AUD with the runner-up receiving $300 AUD. The judges may award an $100 AUD encouragement award to a worthy story from a previously unpublished entrant.
- The winner of the “Gabo Prize” very short story category will receive $500 AUD.
- The winner of the “Betka Prize” humorous short story will receive $500 AUD.
- The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- Copyright will remain with the author but the Mallacoota Arts Council reserves the right to reproduce the prize-winning stories, and runners-up, at any point in the future, in hard copy, performance readings, adaptations and electronic media, with author acknowledgment.
- Manuscripts will not be returned
