■ این رقابت توسط شهر مولازوی ایتالیا و انجمن کتابفروشان استان Montereggio  برگزار می شود. تمام کتاب های مصور جدید که فاقد متن باشند می توانند در این رقابت شرکت کنند. موضوع کتاب ها آزاد است و محدود به هیچ سن و گروه سنی نیست. روایت داستان باید منحصرا با استفاده از تصویرسازی انجام شود و و باید روایی و انسجام سبک داشته باشد.
■ اثر شرکت داده شده باید بصورت فایل دیجیتالی با کیفیت بالا و با فرمت PDF ارسال شود.

≡ چه کسانی می توانند شرکت کنند؟

■ شرکت در این رقابت برای همه تصویرگران و مولفان و هنرمندان آزاد است. کتاب ارسالی باید جدید بوده و منتشر نشده باشد. هیچ محدودیتی در ملیت هنرمندان وجود ندارد. شرکت کنندگان باید در تاریخ ۱۰ دی ۱۳۹۶ بالای ۱۸ سال سن داشته باشند.

هنرمند صاحب اثر برگزیده مبلغ ۴۵۰۰ یورو برای حق نسخه نشر و توافق چاپ دریافت می کند و اثر برگزیده توسط انتشارات Carthusia Edizioni در میلان ایتالیا چاپ می شود.

The Organizing Committee, made up of: the Comune of Mulazzo, the Associazione Montereggio Paese dei Librai, I.O.B. International Organisation of Book Towns, with the support of Carthusia Edizioni and in collaboration with IBBY Italia and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, hereby states that the 2018 Silent Book Contest is reserved exclusively for new illustrated book project without words. The subject matter is open and not connected to any age or reader group. The narration is to be carried out exclusively through the use of illustrated images and should have narrative and stylistic coherence.

Participation is open to all illustrators with new book project of any nationality, place of birth or residence, provided that they are over the age of 18 on the 31st December 2017.

An international Jury, nominated by the Organizing Committee, will select between five and ten finalists from among the projects enrolled in and sent to the competition by January 31th 2018 who will be competing for the 2018 Silent Book Contest.

The book project entered for the competition should be sent anonymously under plain cover and should satisfy all the requirements as laid down in the Terms and conditions of participation.

The International Jury, nominated by the Organizing Committee, is comprised of seven members of recognized professionalism and standing from the worlds of publishing, illustration and literature. The members of the International Jury are published on the official Silent Book Contest website.

The book design, once declared winner of the 2018 Silent Book Contest by the International Jury, will be published during August 2017 by Carthusia Edizioni, Milano, Italy, who will include it and promote it in their publishing catalogue. The author shall receive a prize money of €۴,۵۰۰ as an advance against royalties and a publishing agreement according to international standards. The award ceremony will be held in August 2018 in the Comune of Montereggio di Mulazzo (MS), Italy.

Participation is subject to the payment of an enrolment fee of €۵۰ for each book project sent; a maximum of three book projects per single author is permitted.

Procedure for taking part

The book projects presented should contain no words, excluding the title and any subtitles. Narration of the story should be through a visual process resulting solely through looking at the illustrations and with a coherence of narrative and style.

No book projects that contain illustrations featuring either single words or partial texts will be accepted for selection. Pop-up books, cartoons and comic strips without words, and “colouring book” will also not be accepted for selection. Furthermore, neither will book projects photographs, or not corresponding to the present definition of illustrated images be accepted for selection.

The illustrations featured in the book projects can be in colour or black and white, with unlimited traditional or digital techniques.. 

The book project should be presented on double pages with a format of 57cms in width by 28.5 cms in height (to give a closed format of 28.5cms x 28.5cms and opening from right to left) and with a set number of double pages chosen by the author from the following options:

۱ – ۱۴ double pages with a format of 57cms width by 28.5 cms in height, plus front and back cover.

۲ – ۱۹ double pages with a format of 57cms width by 28.5 cms in height, plus front and back cover.

۳ – ۲۵ double pages with a format of 57cms width by 28.5 cms in height, plus front and back cover.

Any book project sent in any other format and the number of pages not specified in points 1, 2 and 3 will not be accepted for selection.

The book project should be presented in accordance with the following specifications: a full layout complete with number of pages chosen, plus front and rear cover in the format as indicated in Point D and complete with all the internal illustrations and their page lay-out together with the cover illustration.

The completed layout, as described above, should be sent exclusively as a digital file in high quality PDF format by January 31th 2017.

For instructions on how to send a digital layout please check the section ‘Procedure for submitting material’.

The following will not be accepted for selection: book projects with a partial or incomplete layout and book projects in any other format specified in Point D and number of pages not specified among options 1, 2 and 3 in Point D. In addition, book projects sent by any other method than that specified in Procedure for submitting material or sent after the January 31th 2018 will not be accepted.

Do not send original illustrations and paper layouts.

The book projects must be sent anonymously under plain cover.

The digital layouts should only have the title of the work on the front cover, which should be considered as temporary with regard to any possible publishing as a winning book project, and the author’s pen name. All digital files must bear only the name of the title of the work and the author’s pen name.

Check the ‘Procedure for submitting material’ section to find out how to name the PDF file.

The application enrolment form, the upload of PDF file, the enrolment fee payment must be effected on-line accessing the web site www.silentbookcontest.com and following in every parts the instructions in the ‘registration’ section. The registration must be effected within by the 31st of January 2018.

Participation in the Silent Book Competition 2017 and admission to the competition for illustrated book projects is subject to enrolment by the author and the payment of an enrolment fee of €۵۰ for each book projects  sent. Payment of the enrolment fee should be made by January 31th 2018. Check the “ENROLMENT PROCEDURE” section for details on how to pay.

A maximum of three book projectss per author is permitted. Authors will not be reimbursed their enrolment fee should the projects that they have sent not be admitted for selection by the International Jury due to irregularities involving Terms and Conditions and the Procedure for taking part.

Procedure of registration and submitting material

STEP 1 : Complete the form, accept Terms and Conditions and go to next step;

STEP 2 : Complete with your Pen-Name and Title of your project, confirm and go to next step;

STEP 3 : Follow the instructions and upload the PDF file of your project;

Wait acceptation confirmation of your PDF file and you go to next step for the payment of enrolment fee of €۵۰ (fifty Euro).

The on-line payment accept only credit cards and Pay-Pal. When the payment is accepted you receive at your e-mail enrolment confirmation and your personal code.

For upload other projects book (max.3 for each Author), please repeat the procedure for every single project book.

The registration procedure is confirmed exclusively and only subsequently to the payment accepted. The interruption of the registration procedure in whatever moment and before the payment, cancels automatically the registration and the PDF file uploaded.
